Mister Lippi After Austria Friendly: "For Tonight, Good Like This."

In his return to the Italian bench, Mister Lippi had the following observations about the friendly between Italy and Austria from Nice, France:

"È stata una bella sensazione tornare su questa panchina - commenta il c.t. -. Meno lo è stato andare sotto di due gol. Eravamo partiti bene e siamo andati vicini al gol in più di un'occasione. Il 2-0 è stato frutto di alcune disattenzioni, dovute anche alla notevole prestanza fisica dei nostri avversari, mentre noi siamo un po' in ritardo di condizione. Poi abbiamo velocizzato l'azione e siamo andati meglio, anche se loro si sono chiusi bene".

RISULTATO OK - Lippi è contento del risultato: "Sì, di quello sì. Siamo stati bravi a risistemarlo e anche questo è importante. I ragazzi sono stati bravi, perchè hanno anche cercato la vittoria. Loro ci concedevano solo il gioco sugli esterni e noi siamo stati bravi a effettuarlo. Abbiamo cercato la vittoria fino all'ultimo. Non siamo stati fortunati in un paio di occasioni, mentre lo siamo stati in occasione del pareggio. Non ho esultato? Ci mancherebbe altro. Si esulta solo nelle competizioni, qui era importante trovare il gioco".

"He has won little and is old." Mourinho on Ranieri

In the latest war of words, two former Chelsea bosses, as the Italians say, had no hair on their tongues. The first comment was made by Claudio Ranieri after Juventus lost, 0 x 3, to Hamburg in the Emirates Cup in a strange reference to Jose Mourinho.

The Special One responded accordingly. ;-)

"Non ho bisogno di vincere per essere sicuro di quello che faccio, a me va bene prendere uno schiaffo, lo scorso anno ne abbiamo presi tanti e abbiamo reagito".

"Sono in Italia per lavorare non per fare una guerra di parole. Voglio far bene con l’Inter, il meglio possibile per noi e dimenticare il lavoro degli altri. Ranieri? Ha comunque ragione per quello che dice: io sono molto esigente con me stesso e ho bisogno di vincere per avere sicurezza delle cose. Per questo ho vinto tante trofei nella mia carriera. Lui ha, invece, la mentalità di uno che non ha bisogno di vincere e a quasi settanta anni ha vinto una Supercoppa e un’altra piccola Coppa. È troppo vecchio per cambiare mentalità".

For the sake of accuracy, Mister Ranieri is 57 years of age. Did Mister Mourinho mean "sessanta" instead of "settanta?" His Italian is rather good. In fact, Rino Gattuso said "He speaks better Italian than I do and I was born here."
